President/Prophet
Well, this was bound to come up sometime here so I thought why not now. Our prophet has stepped down and it is now our turn to select the next leader of our church. These are trying times for the community and for the world, there are many things happening in each of our lives. We need to to be sure to take the time, and earnestly pray for direction in these times of questioning.

I think it's important for us to make sure everyone is talking about this too, and that we are praying for this in community.
I have to say that I was rather upset when I found out that a world conference was being called on such short notice. I think it is unfair for people who have to travel a long way, especially overseas, to have to make travel arrangements. I know that even for people in my area here in B.C., it is difficult to find people who can afford to go to conference a normal year, let alone with only a few months' notice. I hope that the delegates who are able to attend take their job seriously enough to know that they are representing many people who will be unable to attend.
I trust the Spirit to lead us to the right person for this huge job. I think this whole incident though is a good reminder of just how human we all are. God has a way of working with us and our imperfections.
For interest's sake, I found an interesting article about our church on Wikipedia an online, user-edited encyclopedia. The article on the Community of Christ has an interesting part about this recent change in leadership that is worth checking out if you have time for a very quick read. The rest of the article on our church could definitely be better. I've signed up as a user/editor on Wikipedia and plan on trying to do my bit to make it better. Perhaps others would like to do so too? The more people who help edit, the better the article will be. Wikipedia is an interesting site - worth looking at and learning about.
I think that's all I have to say for now.
